Eastern Volunteers Holds National Volunteer Week Expo

National Volunteer Week held is the time to discover how to volunteer in your community. Eastern Volunteers will be holding a Volunteering Expo between the 9th and 13th of May to showcase the many and varied volunteering roles that exist within the community.

“National Volunteer Week provides an opportunity to recognise the time and dedication provided by volunteers and to encourage more people to volunteer within the community,” Eastern Volunteers Manager of Marketing Services Alex Makin said. “The National Volunteer Week Expo will showcase some of the organisations that are seeking volunteers and this provides an opportunity to learn more about volunteering.”

“Anyone in the community can become a volunteer and share in the opportunities that volunteering creates”, Mr Makin said. “Many people use volunteering as a way to gain new skills, creating pathways to paid employment, or to make new friendships and have fun.”

Eastern Volunteers has about 100 volunteers who assist in program delivery, including volunteer transport and administration. There are various volunteer roles that exist in the community, including advocacy, child care, emergency services, mentoring and animal welfare.

“The National Volunteer Week Expo is the time to discover volunteering and how you can make a difference in the community. If you are unable to attend our Expo but would like to volunteer then please contact us so we can find the ideal volunteer position for you,” Mr Makin concluded.
