Sustainable Volunteering for People with Disabilities

The Sustainable Volunteering for People with Disabilities is A community learning a partnership between The Avenue Neighbourhood House, Eastern Volunteers and EACH Social and Community Health.

This partnership was established in 2009 in response to a growing realisation that people with a disability often were not involved in volunteer opportunities for a number of reasons. These include people with a disability having limited knowledge of what volunteering is as well as the opportunities it may provide and volunteer agencies limited knowledge in supporting people with a disability in their volunteer role.

The project aimed to facilitate volunteering for people with disabilities by working with individuals and community organisations.

The video was produced outlining the outcomes delivered through this project. For details please contact us on 9870 7822 or email info@easternvolunteers.org.au.

Researching the History of Eastern Volunteers

Eastern Volunteers is now over 35 years old and it’s timely to reflect on our how we have grown and expanded over these years. We’re seeking information such as old Annual Reports, photographs, newspaper articles, to assist us in producing a book on the history of Eastern Volunteers.

We particularly need information on the early years of Eastern Volunteers, which was founded in 1976 as Volunteers Unlimited.

If you’re able to assist please contact Alex Makin on 9870 7822 or email alex.makin@easternvolunteers.org.au.
