Yarra Ranges Community Access Project
The Yarra Ranges Community Access Project is a project of Eastern Volunteer Resource Centre and funded by the Department of Human Services – Home and Community Care (HACC).
The goal of the Yarra Ranges Community Access Project (YRCAP) is to improve service delivery to special needs groups and individuals by identifying need, raising community and service provider awareness of unmet needs, providing training and information, assisting in planning and coordination, and developing services to deal with unmet need.
The Yarra Ranges has been identified as presenting unique challenges with regard to accessing transport for people who are frail, aged or who have disabilities and their carers and who are living in their own homes (e.g. HACC eligible).
YRCAP’s focus is to increase community access through transport for the above group of people.
The Project commenced in the Yarra Ranges in 2001. YRCAP is currently reviewing its strategic plan and will build upon the experience and knowledge gained through past activities and also reflects changes that have occurred in the Yarra Ranges over this time.
YRCAP works closely with the Eastern Transport Register and the TYRE network (Transport Your Resources in the East) which are also part of Eastern Volunteers’s transport activities.
